Hi, do you maybe have a VR headset connected? If so, do you get sound when you have it unplugged?
Other than that - do you maybe have your windows output settings set to 5.1 sound? If so, try setting it to stereo if you don't have a 5.1 system connected.
If this doesn't help, these reports here on the Everspace steam forum sound somewhat similar to your problem, maybe you find the solution there:
It is a good possibility that you are encountering an issue with DirectX, or the graphics settings in the game are misconfigured. See the DirectX help page for additional troubleshooting related to DirectX. https://docsbay.net/no-sound-in-new-game-elsewhere-it-works-fine
Oh my, I wanted to spam-flag this (as the site felt somewhat shady) yet it is so friggin' cute! "It is a good possibility that you are encountering an issue with DirectX, or the graphics settings in the game are misconfigured." is just a placeholder answer, especially as DSound and DDraw/Direct3D/DXGI are all different modules (yep, I mentioned DDraw for a reason) - but next... Next is a section about misconfigured IRQs and such, including tips for the Windows 95/98 users and an advice to create a DOS boot diskette, so cute and brings up some nice memories
