    Do you get it regularly? When/where. Could you post your system specs, especially your graphics card and driver?

    I have seen it a few times - the light from the star gets really, really bright reflecting off of the surfaces which makes it near impossible to go through clearly. Similarly to a the heat star thing, but yeah.

    I've seen it maybe in four of my runs.

    Yes i get, one out of five runs; It happens upon reaching a new star.

    Just a random guess. Some Intel drivers, at least on Windows, have a problem rendering with early depth testing enabled for depth-output pixel shaders (via DepthLE / DepthGE instead of the simple depth writes), causing random pixels to be discarded for no reason (around 50% of the actually visible pixels). For Windows, all the newer drivers already have the problem fixed so simply updating the driver will surely do the trick.
