macOS Sierra, Everspace launches from terminal, but not from Steam

macOS Sierra 10.13
MacBook Pro (Retina, 15-inch, Mid 2015)
2.8 GHz Intel Core i7
16 GB 1600 MHz DDR3
AMD Radeon R9 M370X 2 GB
Intel Iris Pro 1536 MB

Expansion installed

In Steam, I've verified local files, deleted and resintalled the game from scratch.

I looked for a log file at ~/Library/Application\ Support/Epic/RSG, but found nothing.

I can launch directly via terminal, but as it runs fine there, I don't get any errors in the terminal because the app exits properly when I quit it.

Happy to provide any other information to get this figured out.

    Hey wallyfoo,
thanks for reporting and your offer to help figuring this out!

Are you using multiple users on your MacBook? Is it possible, that a different user installed the Steam client or Everspace than the user who is starting the game?

    Thanks for responding.

Nope. This is happening on a machine with only one user account.

AH-HA! More information. I launched it from the command line *without* the -windowed flag. Hangs. with the -windowed flag, it launches.

It hangs in the exact same space every time: Game initializes, you get the loading bubbles underneath the logo. For a moment, the full screen switches to a window before it pops back into full. That's the hang moment. It goes into a window, and hangs there. Never pops back into full screen.

    Game runs windowed otherwise.
