What kind of places you want to see inside the game?
Hopefully some ideas find the way into the game

One that contains a habitat with a greate broken sphere made of transparent steel.
You can flight inside and see old destroyed frozen trees, a kind of park and routes up to the top of the sphere.
This place could be used to hide from enemies.
I think this kind of space station could create a very deep atmosphere inside the game.
May be some asteroid once have been planets. So why not show ancient destroyed buildings on top of them?
a ringworld and a dyson sphere spring to mind
complete or broken I don't mind, would make an awesome background to a location. On a slightly smaller scale a space elevator and an orbital ring would look great.
Edit to add: oh, and a space leviathan, not a monster we interact with, but something mind-blowingly huge so that it's just part of the background, You know taking up half the solar system type size so that it's kinda, "oh yeah that's the leviathan system, it's pretty safe, just stay away from the ginormous great monster" type thing
The ISS would be cool if you can fly close to it and have a look.
According to your idea:
What would be fun if the Sputnik satellite is passing by and you hear some pings from it.
Let me explain, if you get close to the black hole, the gravity will increase greatly, so you can do some gravity boost to have an asset on your ennemy. However, since time will be "slowed" near the black hole, ennemy farther will see you like in a bullet time mode.
This way, the asset is compensated.
This will give all players the look and feel of all the weapons, and gives them an extra motivation to go for some blueprints they otherwise might have missed out ....
I'd really like to come across an asteroid field and find the single lone vessel crashed into the side of an ore deposit, only to find out it the poor soul had a fuel breach before jumping into the system. I'd like to pick up a distress beacon far outside of where it should be, only to find (and rescue) a civilian vessel minutes from death.
Graphically, it would be brilliant to see the interior lights of a space station flicker and fail upon hitting a vital system from the outside.
Since this game will have a lot of replayability, I hope that there will be many, many small occurrences that are so rare you'll only come across them once per playthrough, if you're lucky.
Always save the animals!
Seeing pacman eating asteroids :-D
And if you using Steam you get the "was that pacman?" achievement.
I think Everspace will have a nice mix of arcade excitement, rare exploration and maybe a bit some frightening discoveries (like Metroid).
I'm not sure how that translates exactly to space - but it could be epic.
But most terrifyingly, signs that not only was this event recent, But that something intentionally destroyed it;
It was neither a natural or chance occurrence.
And in the orbit of this world drifts hundreds of wrecks and derelicts, Torn asunder; twisted and warped; Stretched and crushed, From enormous capital ships to small fighters. And not a single surviving being.
There would be no pirates, No scavengers or opportunists. It'd just be you, "Alone" among the unsettling quiet.
And sometimes, In the corner of your eyes, You can almost make out a glimpse of something silver moving; Like it's breaching the surface of a ocean and submerging just before you can see it. Something BIG.
All the while you remain you get the feeling that something is watching you; Judging your every action.
Trailing after you as if to make sure you NEVER tell anyone of what you've seen.
